Refinishing
What do we refinish?
We provide refinishing (resurfacing) services of Bathtubs (Porcelain, Fiberglass), Showers (Porcelain, Fiberglass), Bath Walls (Fiberglass, Corian, Tile), Tile Floors, Vanity and Kitchen Countertops, Jacuzzis, and Sinks. Additionally, we can remove your shower door, and clean off the silicone residue.
Wondering what the process of refinishing involves?
The process of refinishing makes surfaces look like new, for example a tub. It is not going to be new, like store-bought or factory-manufactured. As such any dust that is naturally occurring in the environment may land on the newly refinished surface however, with use this will dissipate. It is normal to expect. Also we do recommend that any and all other handyman or construction related work is done prior to the refinishing and that refinishing is saved for last. This is to minimize dust and damages occurring to the delicate finish.
We typically etch the surface either with sand paper or with acid (depending on the material composition of the surface to be refinished), degreaser and a lacquer thinner to prep it for the epoxy resin paint (Triangle epoxy primer, Hawk acrylic urethane top coat). We apply primer and paint in a few layers to ensure an even and smooth coverage.
The products we use are low-VOC and non toxic and we use a ventilator to draw out fumes however there does tend to be somewhat of a potent odor, that some can tolerate better than others. If one is sensitive to smells, we recommend being out of the house or at least in an area of the house that is removed from the area being worked on.
The top layer of the finish normally dries within a few hours, but we recommend not using the newly refinished surface for at least 48 hours, allowing it to cure properly and fully.
We do not remove fixtures, unless you’re wanting to replace them, and we recommend replacing them prior to refinishing as we would simply mask them off since the areas located behind the fixtures are invisible to the naked eye, and do not require a coating. On top of that, we do not remove shower doors unless you’re wanting to permanently remove them. We would simply remove the glass panels, and top track, but leave in place the side and bottom tracks and mask those off. More often than not, tracks are too tightly adhered to where removal causes them to get warped, thereby making them hard to impossible to reinstall. We also do not install shower doors whether new or existing.
COLORS:
Our standard color is gloss white, but we can apply any color finish of your choosing. In addition to solid color finishes, we also provide multi-stone (Stone Flecks) finishes, which simulate the look of granite. See below for some color samples.
